Read it against the plain-words version rather than instead of it: neither is a summary of the other, and where a clause here looks heavier than the promise there, it is the same fact written so that it can be relied on.

Clauses 1–8

What the service is, and what it is not.

  1. 1.The agreement

These terms are between you and the individual who operates money at money.rasoi.io. Using the app is accepting them. If you do not accept them, do not sign in. They are governed by the law of India.

  2. 2.What the service is

A household ledger. You import or enter financial records, and the app categorises, totals, reconciles and projects from them, showing the working behind every figure. It is provided free of charge and without any commitment as to availability.

  3. 3.What it is not: no financial advice

**Nothing in this app is investment, tax, legal or financial advice**, and nothing in it is a recommendation, a solicitation or an offer. The operator is not registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India in any capacity, is not an investment adviser, research analyst, distributor or broker, and holds no equivalent registration anywhere else. Specifically:

    • Every figure the app produces is arithmetic over data you supplied. It names no security to buy or sell and expresses no view on one.
    • Projections — the retirement year, the corpus target, the net-worth line — follow from assumptions you entered, including rates of return and inflation. They are illustrations of those assumptions and not forecasts of anything.
    • Tax figures are the published rates applied to what you entered. They are not a return, are not reviewed, and are not a substitute for a qualified professional.
    • Market data, where a live formula fetches it, is public information from a third party, may be delayed or wrong, and is not warranted by anybody.
    • Decisions you take after reading a screen here are yours. You should take advice from somebody qualified and regulated before acting on any of it.
  4. 4.Who may use it

Anybody 18 or over with a Google account. One account is one person; sharing credentials is your own decision and its consequences are yours. A household may name members who do not sign in, and naming somebody means you have their agreement to their name and their figures being here.

  5. 5.What you may not do

Reach or attempt to reach data belonging to a household you are not in; upload records belonging to somebody who has not agreed to it; scrape, automate against or overload the service; upload anything designed to break the importer or the app; resell or redistribute the service; or use it to do anything unlawful. Security research is welcome and should come to contact@rasoi.io before it comes to anywhere else.

  6. 6.Your content, and what we may do with it

Everything you import, enter or generate remains yours. You grant the operator only the licence needed to store, process and display it back to you in order to run the service. It is not used to train any model, is not shared with any third party except as clause 4 of the Privacy Policy describes, and is not sold under any circumstances.

  7. 7.The requests board

Anything you post to the requests board is published to everybody signed in to this app, under the first name on your account. Posting it grants a perpetual, non-exclusive right to display it there and to build the thing it asks for. Withdrawing a post removes its words; where other people have voted or replied, the row itself remains so that their work is not destroyed. Do not post figures from your own ledger — nothing on that board is private, and the privacy promises the rest of this app makes do not extend to it.

  8. 8.Availability

The service is provided as it is. There is no uptime commitment, no support commitment and no promise that any feature will continue to exist. Maintenance, failures and deliberate changes may all interrupt it.

Clauses 9–16

What is promised, what isn't, and what happens if it goes wrong.

  1. 9.Backups are yours as well as ours

Encrypted hourly backups are taken and are for recovering the service, not for restoring one household's mistake. You are expected to keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose, and the app deliberately leaves your original spreadsheet where it is.

  2. 10.Deleting things

Delete everything removes the household and its figures immediately and irreversibly; the sign-in identity and anything posted to the requests board are not part of it (clause 7, and the Privacy page says the same). The operator may suspend or remove an account that is being used to attack the service or to hold somebody else's records against their will, and will say why.

  3. 11.No warranty

To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind — express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. No warranty is given that any figure, projection or tax calculation is correct.

  4. 12.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for lost profits, lost savings, lost data, or any financial decision taken in reliance on anything this app displayed. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited in aggregate to one thousand rupees — which reflects what this service costs you, which is nothing. Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

  5. 13.Indemnity

You agree to indemnify the operator against claims arising from records you uploaded that were not yours to upload, or from your use of the service in breach of these terms.

  6. 14.Changes to these terms

They may change. The date at the top moves when they do, the repository records what changed, and a change that materially reduces your rights will be said out loud in the app. Continuing to use it after that is acceptance.

  7. 15.If a clause fails

If any clause is held unenforceable, it is severed and the rest stands. A right not enforced is not a right waived.

  8. 16.Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of India, and the competent courts in India have exclusive jurisdiction. Consumer protections available to you where you live are not displaced by that. Before either of us goes near a court, write to contact@rasoi.io — most of this is a conversation.

Something here unclear, or something you want done? Write to contact@rasoi.io — a person reads it, and it is one of the people who wrote this page.
